Description
(-)-Epigallocatechin(EGC)isaflavanol/catechinoriginallyfoundinCamillaandotherplantsources;itexhibitsantioxidative,neuromodulatory,antithrombotic/anticoagulant,anticancer,anti-metastatic,andanti-osteoporoticactivities.EGCdisplaysagoNISTactivityatcannABInoid1(CB1)receptors.Invivo,EGCinhibitsplateletaggregationandincreasesactivatedpartialthromboplastintime.Additionally,EGCinhibitsexpressionofFLT3anddecreasesphosphorylationofp38MAPK,Akt,andSTAT5inacutemyelogenousleukemia(AML)cells,suppressingcellproliferation.Inbreastcancercells,EGCinhibitscellmigrationandinvasion.ThiscompoundalsodecreasesADIpocyteformation,suppressesexpressionofPPARγ,CEBP,andFABP4,andincreasesosteogenicdifferentiationinvitro.
