Description
Thiscompoundisasyntheticderivativeof6-methylsulfinyl-hexaneisothiocyanate,whichwasinitiallyproducedbyWasABIa;itisananalogofsulforaphane.Thisisothiocyanate(ITC)exhibitsanticancerchemotherapeutic,anti-inflammatory,antioxidative,andneuroprotectiveactivities.ThiscompoundinhibitsSOX2signaling,inducesG2/Mphasecellcyclearrest,andsuppressescellviabilityinpancreaticcancercells.Thiscompoundalsodecreasestumorvolumeandweightinanimalmodelsofbreastcancer.Additionally,thisITCinhibitsexpressionofCOX-2,iNOS,andinflammatorycytokinesinmacrophages.Instriatalcultures,thiscompoundactivatesNrf2andincreaseslevelsofhemeoxygenase1(HO-1),suppressingoxidativestress.ThisisothiocyanatealsoinhibitsGSK-3β.
