Description
2-deoxy-D-glucoseinhibitsglucosemetabolismandisusedasabioMarkerofglucosemetabolism,hypoxia,andangiogenesisinavarietyofmodelsandcelltypes,includingneurotoxicity,cancer,andautoimmunedisease;the2-OHgroupofglucoseisreplacedbyahydrogenandthereforethiscompoundcannotbemetabolizedproperly.2-deoxy-D-glucoseinhibitsN-linkedglycosylationandglycolysis,inhibitingsurfaceexpressionofMICA/BandotherNKG2Dligandsoncells.Thiscompoundalsoexhibitsanticancerandpro-oxidativeactivities,increasingoxidativestressandmimickingglucosedeprivation,resultingincelldeathofcancercells.
