Description
3-acetyldeoxynivalenol(3-A-DON)atypeAtrichothecenemycotoxininitiallyproducedbyspeciesofFusarium.3-A-DONistypicallyfoundingrainsusedforlivestockfeedaswellashumanconsumption,suchascerealandbread.Thiscompoundexhibitspotentialanticancerandimmunomodulatorybenefitinvitro,upregulatingIL-8productionandinducingapoptosisinJurkatTcells.3-A-DONalsodisplaysbiphasiceffectsoncytokineproductioninCD4+Tcells,initiallydecreasingexpressionofIL-2,IL-4,andIL-5,thenincreasingexpressionofallthreeafter7daysofexposure.3-A-DONalsoinhibitstheplaque-formingcellresponseanddecreasestotallymphocytenumbersinvitro.
