Description
Betamethasonevalerate(BMV)isasyntheticglucocorticoidthatiscommonlyusedtotreatpsoriasisanddermatitis.BMVexhibitsimmunomodulatory,anti-inflammatory,andvasoconstrictiveactivityinvitroandinvivo.Acrossanimalmodelsofvaryingages,BMVimpairsmaturationandviABIlityofLangerhansandepidermalcells.BMValsodecreasesendogenousphospholipaseactivityandinhibitsvasodilatoryresponsesinskin;thispartialvasoconstrictiondecreasesbloodflow,oftenresultinginadecreaseinlocalTGF-β1levels.
