Description
γ-Neuropeptideisanendogenoustachykinin/neurokininpeptidethatbindsneurokinin(NK)receptors,displayingsomeselectivityforNK2isoforms.Thispeptidemediateshypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axissignalingandreproductivehormonerelease,inhibitinghypothalamicsecretionofluteinizinghormone(LH).Additionally,γ-neuropeptideinducesvasodilationandhypotensiveactivityinvivo.γ-Neuropeptidemayplayaroleingastrointestinalmotility,asitstimulatessmoothmusclecontractioninthegastrointestinaltract;italsostimulatessmoothmusclecontractionintherespiratorytract.γ-NeuropeptideformscomplexeswithCu(II)aswell.
