Description
Alendronateisasecondgenerationbisphosphonatethatexhibitsanti-resorptive,anti-inflammatory,immunomodulatory,andanticancerchemotherapeuticactivities.Alendronateinhibitsboneresorptionbutdoesnothaveanyeffectsonbonemineralization;italsoinhibitsosteoclastformationanddecreasesphosphorylationofAktandERK1/2invitro.Inanimalmodels,alendronatedecreasesproductionofTh4andTh17cytokinesandeotaxin-2,suppressingantigen-inducedpulmonaryimmuneresponses.Additionally,thiscompoundincreasesδγTcellactivationandinhibitstumorgrowthinvivo.
