Description
β-Lipotropin (61-64) is a fragment of β-lipotropin that retains lipotropin’s morphinomimetic activity. β-Lipotropin (61-64) is also a fragment of met-enkephalin, one of several cleavage products of β-lipotropin. This fragment of β-lipotropin activates melanocytes to produce melanin and increase lipolysis and steroidogenesis. Additionally, this peptide inhibits smooth muscle contractions.
