Caffeicacidisahydroxycinnamicacidfoundincoffee,arganoil,Eucaplyptus,Salvinia,andPhellinus;itexhibitsantioxidative,anti-diabetic,antibiotic,anti-inflammatory,anti-metastatic,andanticanceractivities.Caffeicacidinhibitsactivityofα-amylaseandα-glucosidase.Thiscompoundalsodisplaysantibacterialefficacy,decreasingmembranestABIlityandinhibitingproliferationofStaphylococcus.Invitro,caffeicacidincreaseslevelsofglutathione,glutathioneperoxidase,andcatalase;italsoinhibitsLPS-stimulatedinflammationbydecreasingactivationofNF-κBandlevelsofIL-6,IL-8,TNF-α,andIL-1β.Inlungadenocarcinomacells,caffeicacidinhibitsPMA-inducedinvasionanddecreasesactivationofSTAT3,AP-1,andNF-κB.Additionally,caffeicacidinducesG1phasecellcyclearrestandapoptosis,decreasesmitochondrialmembranepotential,andinhibitscellularproliferationincoloncancercells.
