Description
Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is an endogenous prodrug of calcifediol; cholecalciferol is synthesized in the skin under UV-B exposure. Cholecalciferol supplements are occasionally used to prevent bone loss. D vitamins commonly exhibit anti-osteoporotic, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and chemopreventive activities.
