Description
Balofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that displays strong antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria and weak antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria. Balofloxacin inhibits the supercoiling ability of bacterial DNA gyrase, and shows efficacy treating early and middle stages of infection by bacteria such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae in animal models.
