Description
BorrelidinisamacrolideantibioticinitiallyproducedbyStreptomyces.Borrelidinexhibitsanti-parasitic,antifungal,anticancer,andanti-angiogenicactivities.Thiscompoundinhibitsthreonyl-tRNAsynthetase/ligase,inhibitinggrowthandsurvivalofTrypanosoma,Plasmodium,andPhytophthora.Inacutelymphocyticleukemia(ALL)cells,borrelidininducesG1phasecellcyclearrest,inducesapoptosis,andinhibitsproliferation.Inendothelialcells,borrelidininhibitsformationofnewcapillarytubesandcollapsespre-formedcapillarytubes,inducingthreonine-andcaspase-dependentapoptosis.
