Aniracetamisanootropicampakinethatexhibitsanxiolyticandneuroprotectiveactivities.AniracetamactsasapositiveallostericmodulatorofAMPAreceptors,slowingreceptordeactivation;italsoactsonD2receptors,5-HT2Areceptors,andnicotinicacetylcholinereceptors(nAChRs),likelydisplayingagoNISTactivity.Aniracetamdecreasesanxietyinvivointheconditionfearstresstest,elevatedplusmazetest,andinsocialinteractiontests.Additionally,thiscompoundinhibitsH2O2-induceddeficitsinlong-termpotentiationandneuronviABIlity.AniracetamshowssomeclinicalbenefitintheenhancementofcognitivedeficitsassociatedwithstrokeandAlzheimer’sdisease.
