Description
Vortioxetineexhibitsneuromodulatory,antidepressant,anxiolytic,andcognitionenhancingactivities.VortioxetinemodulatesSEROtoninlevelsinthebrainbyinhibitingtheserotonintransporter(SERT)and5-HT3A/7receptors,actingasapartialagoNISTatthe5-HT1Breceptor,andactingasafullagonistatthe5-HT1Areceptor.Vortioxetinealsoshowssomeagonistactivityatβ1-adrenergicreceptors,althoughthisislikelynotrelatedtoitsbeneficialactivities.Inadditiontoitsmood-modulatingaction,thiscompoundalsoimprovesmemoryperformanceandreduces5-HT-depletion-inducedmemorydeficitsinobjectrecognitionandY-mazespontaneousalternationtests.
