Description
Aloeemodinisananthraquinonefoundinthealoeplant.Aloeemodinismostcommonlyknownforitsstimulant-laxativeaction,butalsoshowsantioxidative,anticancerchemotherapeutic,andanti-angiogenicactivity.ThiscompoundactivatesCFTRCl-channelsinthecolon,potentiallyincreasingfluidsecretionandresultinginlaxativeactivity.Aloeemodinactsonanumberoftargetsincellularmodelsofcancer,includingp65lck,ERα,NF-κB,andmTORC2.Additionally,aloeemodininducesapoptosisingliomamodelsthroughdisruptionofthemitochondriamembranepotential.
