Description
Amifostine is a thiol prodrug that exhibits antioxidative activity. Amifostine is co-administered with chemotherapeutics to detoxify their metabolites and scavenge for free radicals, protecting normal tissue and DNA against chemotherapy- or radiation-induced damage.
