Description
Tenoxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic, neuroprotective, and antioxidative activities; it inhibits COX-1 and COX-2. Tenoxicam is clinically used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendonitis, and bursitis. In neurons, tenoxicam inhibits MPP+-induced decreases in phosphorylated Akt and also scavenges free radicals, preventing lipid peroxidation.
