Description

Thymopentinisasynthetic,immunomodulatorypentapeptide(thymopoietin,32-36).Inanimalmodelsofexperimentalautoimmuneencephalitis(EAE),thymopentindecreasesphosphorylationofIκBkinaseandinhibitsproductionofHSP72,lesseningdiseaseseverity.Inothermodels,thymopentindecreasesiNOSexpressionandactivity,exhibitingpotentialanticancerchemotherapeuticbenefitinthetreatmentofSezarysyndrome.Inmacrophages,thiscompoundincreasesactivationofNF-κB.Inotherinvitromodels,thymopentinbindstoMHCIIHLA-DRcomplexesandmodulatesTcellactivity.
