Description
C-typenatriureticpeptide(CNP)isanatriureticpeptide(NP)thatbindsNP-Breceptors.Thispeptideexhibitscardioprotectiveandanti-inflammatoryactivities.Inanimalmodels,CNPincreasesconductionvelocityinthesinoatrialnodeanddecreasesinfarctsizeinmodelsofischemia/reperfusion.Invitro,CNPdecreasesbasalATP-sensitiveK+channelopeningsandcurrents.AnimalmodelsofmutantCNPdisplayarthritis,cartilagedamage,andgrowthdelay,highlightingrolesforCNPintheregulationofskeletalgrowthandinflammation.CNPbindingNPreceptorsincreasescGMPlevelsandopenscysticfibrosistransmembranereceptor(CTFR)Cl-channelsinaPDE3/cAMP/PKA-dependentmanner.
