Description
ClofibricacidisametaboliteofclofibratethatactivatesPPARαreceptorsandinhibitsauxinactivity,exhibitinganti-hyperlipidemic,anti-angiogenic,anticancerchemotherapeutic,andherbicidalactivity.Clofibricacidaltersplanthormoneactivityandisusedasaplantgrowthregulator.Clofibricacidalsoinhibitsphosphatidylethanolaminesynthesis,decreasingproductionofcholesterolandactivityofHMG-CoAreductaseandACAT.Additionally,clofibricacidsuppressesproductionofprostaglandinE2(PGE2)andVEGF,decreasesvesseldensity,andinhibitstumorgrowthinanimalmodelsofovariancancer.
