Description
PP-1 inhibits members of the Src kinase family and displays antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-arrhythmic characteristics. In an in vitro model of oxidative stress, PP-1 inhibits hydrogen peroxide-induced production of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF). PP-1 decreases total and phosphorylated levels of Src and increases connexin-43 levels and gap junction communication. Additionally, PP-1 decreases ventricular tachycardia and sudden death in animal models of arrhythmia.
