Description
Schisandrin A is originally found in Schisandra; it exhibits cardioprotective, antioxidative, and antihypertensive activities. In animal models of cardiac ischemia/reperfusion, schisandrin A decreases infarct size, maldionaldehyde levels, left ventricular systolic and end diastolic pressures, and arrhythmia and prevents cardiomyocytes apoptosis. This compound also induces relaxation in rat thoracic aortas.
