Description
Gallocatechingalleate(GCG)isapolyphenoloriginallyderivedfromavarietyofsources,includinggreentea,coffee,safflower,andalmonds.GCGexhibitsawidevarietyofbeneficialproperties,includinganti-diabetic,anti-osteoporotic,antiviral,anti-parasitic,andanticancerchemotherapeuticactivities.GCGinhibitsamyloidformationbyisletamyloidpolypeptide(amylin)andalsoinhibitsglutathione-S-transferaseincellularmodels.GCGinhibitsHIVintegrase,preventingitsABIlitytobindtoDNA.Separately,thiscompoundpreventshatchingofnematodesinvivo.GCGalsohaspositiveeffectsonbonemetabolism,decreasingosteoclastogenesisandinhibitingosteoclastdifferentiation.
