Description

GinsenosideRb2isatriterpenesaponinoriginallyfoundinspeciesofPanax(ginseng)thatexhibitsanti-osteoporotic,antioxidative,antiviral,anti-hyperlipidemic,anti-metastatic,anti-angiogenic,andanticancerchemotherapeuticactivities.Invivo,ginsenosideRb2decreaseslevelsofmalondialdehydeandincreaseslevelsofglutathione,improvingbonemicroarchitectureandbonemineraldensity.Inotheranimalmodels,thiscompounddecreasesvirustitersandprotectsagainstinfectionofhemagglutinatingvirusofJapan.InADIpocytes,ginsenosideRb2decreaseslevelsofcholesterolandtriglyceridesandincreasesexpressionofSREBP.Inuterineendometrialcancercells,ginsenosideRb2decreaseexpressionofmatrixmetalloproteinase2(MMP2),suppressivecellularinvasion;thiscompoundalsoinhibitsneovascularizationandtumorgrowthinanimalmodelsofmelanoma.
