Description
S-Trityl-L-cysteine(STLC)isanorganosulfurcompoundfoundingarlicplants.STLCexhibitsanticancerandpotentialchemotherapeuticactivitiesacrossseveralmodels.STLCactsasamitoticinhibitor,inhibitingmitotickinesinEg5andpreventingseparationofduplicatedchromosomesandformationofbipolarspindlesduringmitosis.Inchronicmyelogenousleukemia(CML)cells,STLCinducescleavageofpoly(ADP)-ribosepolymerase(PARP)andactivationofcaspase3,resultinginapoptosisandcelldeath.
