Description
MethylselenocysteineisfoundinplantsintheAstragalus,Allium,andBrassicagenera;itexhibitscytoprotective,chemopreventive,anti-angiogenic,antioxidative,andanti-inflammatoryactivities.MethylselenocysteineinducesphaseIIenzymeactivityandprotectsorgansagainstchemotherapy-inducedtoxicity.Inothermodels,methylselenocysteineincreasesexpressionofNrf2,hemeoxygenase1(HO-1),catalase,andglutathione-S-transferase,protectingagainstrADIation-inducedoxidativedamage.Additionally,thiscompounddecreasesactivationofNF-κB,p38MAPK,andJNKanddecreasesexpressionofiNOSinLPS-stimulatedmacrophages.
