Description
Celecoxibisanon-steroidalanti-inflammatorydrug(NSAID)thatinhibitsCOX-2;itexhibitsanti-inflammatory,analgesic,anticancer,andanti-metastaticactivities.Celecoxibisclinicallyusedtotreatarthritis,acutepain,andankylosingspondylitis.Inhepatomacells,celecoxibdecreasesthemitochondrialmembranepotential,increasescytochromecrelease,activatescaspases3and9,altersBcl-2andBaxlevels,andinducesapoptosis.Invitro,celecoxibinhibitsreleaseofIL-6,IL-1β,andMIP-1α,suppressesphosphorylationofJNK,andactivatesSIRT1.Additionally,thiscompoundinhibitsinvasionandmigrationofnasopharyngealcarcinomacellsbydecreasingactivityofmatrixmetalloproteinases2and9(MMP2/9).
