Description
Ketanserinisaninhibitorof5-HT2Areceptorsthatexhibitsantihypertensive,vasodilatory,analgesic,andpro-angiogenicactivities.Inanimalmodelsofhypertension,ketanserindecreasesbloodpressureandimprovesbaroreceptorsensitivityandvagaltonicactivity,improvingleftventricularremodelingandoverallcardiacfunction.Inanimalmodelsofmyocardialinfarction,ketanserinincreasesexpressionofVEGFandincreasescapillarydensityinmyocardialtissue.Inotheranimalmodels,thiscompoundinhibitstransientreceptorpotentialvanilloid1(TRPV1)channel-evokedthermalhyperalgesia.Throughdownstreamtargets,ketanserinmayalsoinhibitα1-adrenergicreceptors.
