Description
Milrinone is an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 3 (PDE3) that exhibits vasodilatory activity; it is clinically used to treat heart failure. Milrinone increases cAMP, PKA activation, and Ca2+ influx, strengthening contractility. Milrinone also exhibits anticoagulant activity, inhibiting platelet aggregation by preventing Ca2+ release from the dense tubular system.
