Description

Chrysinisaflavone/flavonoidinitiallyfoundinPassiflora,Oroxylum,andPleurotis;itisalsoabyproductfoundinpropolis.Chrysinexhibitsanti-estrogenic,anti-inflammatory,anxiolytic,neuroprotective,cognitionenhancing,antioxidative,anti-metastatic,anticancerchemotherapeutic,andchemopreventiveactivities.Invitro,chrysinmayinhibitaromatase.Inmacrophages,chrysininhibitsLPS-inducedexpressionofCOX-2andactivityofNF-IL-6.Thiscompounddisplaysanxiolyticbenefitinanimalsundergoingtheelevatedplusmaze.Invivo,chrysinincreaseslevelsofcatalase,superoxidedismutase,andglutathione,decreasesactivationofNF-κBandlevelsofTNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6,andcaspase3,andincreasesbodyweightandcognitivefunction.ChrysininhibitsDEN-inducedrenalcarcinogenesisinvivoanddecreasesexpressionofVEGF,cellularmetastasis,andbreastcancercellsurvivalinvitroandinvivo.Additionally,chrysininhibitsHDAC2andHDAC8.
