Description
Growthhormonereleasingpeptide2(GHRP-2)isapeptidethatinducesthereleaseofgrowthhormoneandsecretionofcAMP,adrenocorticotropichormone(ACTH),andinsulin-likegrowthfactor1(IGF-1)invitroandinvivothroughbindingtheghrelinreceptor.GHRP-2exhibitsorexigenic,gastrointestinalmodulatory,antioxidative,andanti-inflammatoryactivities.Inanimalmodels,GHRP-2increasesfoodintakeandinhibitsgastrointestinalcontractility.GHRP-2stimulatesreleaseofghrelinandalsodecreasesmorphine-inducedanalgesiainvariousanimalmodels.Invitroandinvivo,GHRP-2decreaseslevelsofsuperoxideanionsandlipoxygenase,decreasingproductionofperoxidesandaccumulationoflipids.Inanimalmodelsoflunginjury,GHRP-2attenuatesLPS-inducedincreasesinTNF-αandIL-6andsuppressesactivationofNF-κB.
