Description
HyperforinDCHAisastablesaltformofhyperforin,acompoundfoundinHypericumperforatum(St.John’sWort).HyperforinDCHAexhibitsanticancer,anti-inflammatory,andantidepressantactivities.Inchronicmyelogenousleukemia(CML)cells,hyperforinDCHAdisruptsthemitochondrialmembranepotential,increasesreleaseofcytochromec,activatescaspases3,8,and9,andinducescleavageofpoly(ADP)-ribosepolymerase(PARP),resultinginG1phasecellcyclearrestandapoptosis.Inastrocytomacells,hyperforinDCHApreventsLPS-andsubstanceP-inducedreleaseofIL-6.Inanimalmodels,thiscompoundpreventscrotonoil-inducededema.Additionally,hyperforinDCHAdecreasesimmobilitytimeinanimalsundergoingtheforcedswimtest.
