Description
Megestrol is a synthetic progestogen that exhibits orexigenic and anticancer chemotherapeutic activities. Megestrol is clinically used in the treatment of cachexia-anorexia to stimulate appetite and increase weight gain. In hepatocellular carcinoma models, megestrol induces G1 phase cell cycle arrest and apoptosis and decreases tumor volume.
