Doripenem is a β-lactam carbapenem antibiotic that displays antibacterial activity against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, especially Pseudomonas and Enterobacteriaceae. Doripenem binds penicillin-binding proteins 2 and 3 (PBP2/3), inhibiting cell wall peptidoglycan formation.
