Phenylisothiocyanate(ITC)exhibitsantibiotic,anti-angiogenic,anti-inflammatory,antioxidative,anticancerchemotherapeutic,andchemopreventiveactivities.PhenylisothiocyanatedisplaysantibacterialefficacyagainstEscherichiaandStaphylococcus,alteringmembranefunctionandinducingcelldeath.Inothercellularmodels,thiscompounddownregulatesexpressionofVEGFandinflammatorycytokinesandincreasesexpressionofIL-2andTIMP.Additionally,phenylisothiocyanatedecreasesPMA-inducedsuperoxideanionlevels,inhibitslipidperoxidation,scavengeshydroxylrADIcals,anddecreasesformationandnumberofsolidtumorsinanimalmodels.LikeotherITCs,thiscompoundalsoactsasaphaseIIenzymeinducer.
