Description
Pterostilbeneisamethylatedanalogofresveratrol;itexhibitsantioxidative,anticancer,anti-metastatic,andanxiolyticproperties.ThiscompoundinhibitsDNAstrandbreaksinducedbyDPPH,superoxide,andhydrogenperoxideincellularmodels.Alsoinvitro,pterostilbeneinhibitstumorsphereformation,cellularmigrationandinvasionandincreasesapoptosis,potentiallythroughsuppressionofNF-κBandmetastasis-associatedprotein1.Additionally,pterostilbenedownregulatesERKsignalinginthehippocampusinanimalmodels,resultinginincreasedopenarmentriesinanelevatedplusmaze.
