Description
Diallylsulfideisanorganosulfurinitiallyfoundingarlic;itexhibitsanticancerchemotherapeutic,chemopreventive,neuroprotective,anti-inflammatory,antioxidative,anti-angiogenic,andanti-metastaticactivities.DiallylsulfidedecreasesDES-inducedDNAdamageandcarcinogenesisinvitroandinvivo;italsoinhibitsthedevelopmentofcolonpolypsinothercarcinogenesismodels.Inanimalmodelsofcerebralischemia/reperfusion,diallylsulfidedecreasesinfarctvolume,apoptosis,andcaspase3activationandincreaseslevelsofBcl-2.Invitro,thiscompounddecreasesTNF-α-inducedactivationofNF-κBandsuppresseshistamine-inducedlevelsofROS,IL-1β,andTNF-α.Likeotherorganosulfurs,diallylsulfideinducesphaseIIenzymes,increasingglutathione-S-transferase,glutathionereductase,superoxidedismutase,catalase,glutathioneperoxidase,andNrf2invivo.Inanimalmodelsofosteosarcoma,diallylsulfidedecreasesVEGFlevels,microvesseldensity,cellularinvasion,andtumorgrowth.
