Description
Diclofenacisanon-steroidalanti-inflammatorydrug(NSAID)thatisclinicallyusedtotreatinflammationassociatedwitharthritisandgoutaswellasotherpainorinflammatorydisorders;itissomewhatselectiveininhibitingCOX-2overCOX-1.Diclofenacexhibitsanti-inflammatory,antipyretic,analgesic,antinociceptive,anticonvulsant,anti-angiogenic,anticancerchemotherapeutic,andchemopreventiveactivities.Invitro,theanticonvulsant/antiepilepticactivityofdiclofenacmaystemfrominhibitionofdelayedrectifierK+channelamplitudeandaccelerationofchannelinactivation;italsoincreasestheamplitudeofM-typeK+channels.ThiscompoundinhibitsDMH-inducedcoloncarcinogenesisinvivo,decreasinglevelsofCOX-2,VEGF,andMCP-1.Diclofenacalsodecreasestheepithelial-to-mesenchymaltransition(EMT),suppressingsquamouscellcarcinomatumorgrowth.
