Rocuronium is an aminosteroid that exhibits anesthetic activity, inducing relaxation of skeletal muscle. Rocuronium is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular junction (NMJ) blocker that inhibits post-synaptic nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs); it also inhibits M2/3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs). Rocuronium has a rapid onset and can be administered with a specific antagonist that terminates its action.
