Description
Eledoisin-related peptide (ERP) is a tachykinin analog of substance P. ERP binds neurokinin receptors, exhibiting analgesic and bronchoconstrictive activities. ERP alters pain thresholds in animal models of thermal pain. In other animal models, this peptide induces bronchoconstriction through direct activity on airway smooth muscle. Additionally, ERP inhibits M-currents and stimulates gastric acid secretion in vivo.
