Description
Netilmicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that displays activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria, although it is most effective against gram negative bacteria. Netilmicin binds 16s rRNA of the bacterial 30S ribosome, inhibiting translation and tRNA translocation. Netilmicin also decreases melanocyte viability, tyrosinase activity, and melanin production in vitro.
