Description
Mebendazole is a benzimidazole anti-parasitic/anti-helminthic compound that also exhibits anticancer chemotherapeutic activity. Mebendazole inhibits microtubule polymerization in parasitic worms. In melanoma cells, mebendazole decreases levels of Bcl-2 and induces apoptosis, suppressing cell growth. This compound also decreases Bcl-2 and XIAP levels in vivo, suppressing growth of melanoma xenografts.
