Description
Necrostatin-1 is an inhibitor of receptor interacting protein 1 (RIP1), preventing necroptosis, a programmed cell death. Necrostatin-1 exhibits nephroprotective, neuroprotective, and cytoprotective activities. In animal models of chronic kidney disease, necrostatin-1 improves renal function and pathology by preventing loss of renal cells. Necrostatin-1 also prevents death of hippocampal neurons in animal models of cerebral ischemia.
