Description
Olanzapineisanatypicalantipsychoticusedtotreatschizophrenia,bipolardisorder,panicdisorder,anxiety,andTourette’ssyndrome.OlanzapineactsasanantagoNISTorinverseagonistatD1-4receptors,5-HT1A/2/3/6/7receptors,muscarinicacetylcholinereceptors(M1-5mAChRs),α1/2-adrenergicreceptors,andhistaminereceptors.ThiscompoundalsoactivatesAMPKinthehypothalamus,increasingbloodglucoselevels.Olanzapineexhibitsneuroprotectiveactivity,upregulatingBDNFgenetranscriptionandmodulatingPGE2andarachidonicacidlevelsduringchronicuse.
