Description
PalbociclibisaninhibitorofCDK4andCDK6thatdisplaysanticancerchemotherapeuticandnephroprotectiveactivities;itiscurrentlyinclinicaltrialsasapotentialtreatmentforbreastcancer.PalbociclibinducesG0/G1phasecellcyclearrestinrenalproximaltubulecells,protectinganimalsagainstnephrotoxicityandinflammationinducedbyotherchemotherapeutics.Palbociclibalsoinducescellcyclearrestincellularandanimalmodelsofglioma,increasingoverallsurvivaltimes.Inanimalmodelsofretinoblastoma,thiscompoundinhibitscellproliferation,andinducesG1phasecellcyclearrestandtumorregression.
