Description
S-methyl-L-cysteine-S-oxide (Methyiin) is an analog of alliin that can be found in vegetables of the Brassicaceae family, such as garlic, onions, and kale. Methyiin exhibits anti-diabetic, anti-hyperlipidemic, and antioxidative activity in vitro and in vivo. This compound decreases plasma glucose and body weight in animal models of diabetes and decreases endogenous lipogenesis and increases lipid catabolism in animal models of hyperlipidemia.
